Our dentists have the training and experience to transform even the most noticeably flawed teeth into beautiful, healthy looking smiles. Cosmetic dentistry can involve a few different types of procedures. Our most common cosmetic services include the placement of porcelain veneers and white restorations along with providing professional teeth whitening treatments.
Professional Teeth Whitening
A professional whitening treatment can breathe new life back into your smile. As we age and as our teeth are exposed to dark foods and drinks, teeth become dull and yellowed. Sometimes, repeated exposure to something dark like coffee can leave yellow and brown spots on our teeth. A professional whitening treatment dramatically lightens teeth by removing stains that develop beneath the enamel surface of teeth. Unlike many store bought strips, rinses, and toothpastes, professional whitening is effective and safe for teeth.
Dental Crowns and White Restorations
Many people associate restorations with repairing broken and diseased teeth. While this is true, restorations can also be used to improve the appearance of teeth. White restorations like composite resin fillings and porcelain crowns are great ways to conceal imperfections while also protecting tooth structure.
White fillings are made from a tooth-colored compound that can be tinted to match the shade of biological teeth. When white fillings are placed, they are undetectable to others. Porcelain crowns, like white fillings, are beautiful smile enhancements that closely resemble healthy, natural tooth structure. If you have unsightly, old metal dental work, our dentists can replace your restorations with tooth-colored fillings and crowns.
Porcelain veneers are considered one of the best ways to achieve a perfect, vibrant-looking smile. Wafer-thin, tooth-shaped pieces of porcelain are permanently bonded on the front sides of teeth. Porcelain veneers can hide imperfections like chips, cracks, stains, and jagged edges. A series of veneers can transform stained, crooked, and worn teeth into red carpet worthy smiles.

Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs
What is cosmetic dentistry?
Cosmetic dentistry involves improving the appearance of one’s smile by using professional treatments such as teeth whitening and placing restorations or porcelain veneers to enhance the appearance of teeth and promote a symmetrical, uniform-looking smile.
A person receiving a smile makeover might only need one cosmetic service while others with imperfections of varying natures might need a combination of procedures to achieve their desired result. Cosmetic treatments are highly personalized. Our dentists take the shape and size of the mouth along with the state of one’s teeth into account when developing a treatment plan. Enhancements like dental crowns or porcelain veneers are made from very precise measurements by dental technicians so that the enhancements fit perfectly over and between teeth. If cosmetic dentistry interests you, we recommend that you schedule a smile makeover consultation to determine the procedure(s) that meet your unique needs.
What is a dental crown?
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped restoration that features a hollowed inside so that it can fit over a tooth like a cap. It is bonded permanently over teeth with dental cement. A crown can also be attached to a dental implant so that a single tooth can be replaced.
Crowns are used for both restorative and cosmetic reasons. When used to enhance a smile, dental crowns are made from materials such as porcelain or porcelain fused to metal. White crowns can conceal chipped, cracked, and badly stained teeth. If teeth are noticeably worn down, a series of crowns can rebuild one’s bite while improving the appearance of damaged teeth.
What is a veneer?
A veneer is a cosmetic enhancement that is made from porcelain. It is bonded over the front of teeth to conceal noticeable flaws. Veneers can hide teeth with permanent stains, jagged edges, chips, and cracks. Sometimes veneers can fill in gaps as well if teeth are spaced too far apart. In fact, a series of veneers can make a smile appear straighter by covering spacing issues and rotated/overlapped teeth. Porcelain veneers are a permanent cosmetic enhancement and are cared for by brushing and flossing (just like biological teeth).
I have sensitive teeth, can I still whiten my teeth?
Professional teeth whitening is a great way to improve the appearance of your teeth. While many over the counter products can increase tooth sensitivity, a professional whitening treatment is safe for sensitive teeth. Professional treatments can increase sensitivity temporarily but this increased sensitivity will subside in a few days. Professional whitening treatments utilize prescription-grade whitening solutions that can penetrate the enamel surface of teeth to bleach deep stains without damaging tooth enamel.
